Yumi Zouma may sound like just a singer, but they are actually a wonderful group of musicians who call New Zealand home. “The Brae” from their debut EP is fresh and ear-catching for those who love that lush chillwave sound with pop influences. Perfect for the sunny days Seattle is currently experiencing.

Stripped down, Daniela Andrade‘s cover of Gnarl’s Barkley’s “Crazy” is jazzy and sensual. I am a strong believer that the best cover is someone’s complete re-imagination of a song and Andrade’s got a full album of them. While this is the most intriguing, her full LP shows a very talented singer.

Weird Dreams is one of those small fuzzy, garage rock bands that should become big. They have Beach Boys-esque harmonies in the chorus layered upon intense guitars and drums guaranteed to make everyone’s foot tap along. The song is more than you would think, there are wonderful musical nuances in the tempo that is generally just fun.

Broken Social Scene’s singer, Kevin Drew is back for his sophomore solo album. “Mexican Aftershow Party” is absolutely goofy when listening to the lyrics but the music itself is dark and heavy on the drums, much like his own bands’. He has one of the most recognizable voices in indie rock and it shines on this track, full of baritone and just manly.
